Unfortunate OneA Poem by ksscampos"The only time you should look down on someone is if you're helping them up. "Unfortunate One Give or take, give
and take Such is life’s
mistake Ones fortunate, others
not so May often lead to
injustices Especially if the thought is
sharing Food, money or a place to sleep on a
cold night Bodies forgotten by
society Tears have been dried
from their eyes Tossed to the curb Left stranded
outdoors A cup and cardboard
sign Their only
possessions A cry for help Most often denied A mother, father Or a veteran Who lost his limbs
for your freedom Now held prisoner No cuffs or shackles Just prejudice from
bystanders Judgments passed from
assumptions Of what lead one to
such demise Endless nights spent
on hard concrete Many days with
nothing to eat We assume naturally That if that man just
shaved Put on a smile He could find a job
effortlessly No compassion for
those whom Sleep on the curbside
“If he gave up
drinking, he could change his life” Take a second to ask Even if he did his
best With no help from a
caring heart Would he ever find
success? © 2014 ksscamposFeatured Review
