SMOKE

SMOKE

A Poem by ksscampos
"

new days, new beginnings

"

As I sit, looking at the horizon

The sun sits with me

Setting up a colorful sky

A blood tinged reflection

Stains the white of my eyes

As the day turns into night

My thoughts reminisce

Smoke blows from my pipe

Meeting the clouds up high

My mind lingers on

Ever so calmly the day ends

Bringing all the joys

To a peaceful rest

I look at the distance

Flashbacks of smiles descends

Handshakes and friendly hellos

Keeps me at ease

As I blow my smoke

Another day I was lucky to see

And new people I had the privilege to meet

Some I made smile with a pleasant joke

Other’s tears I dried with a welcoming hug

As I sit, looking at the horizon

I take another hit from my pipe

The sun says it’s final good-byes

As the moon finds its place for the night

I look up and enjoy the view

Tonight I will embrace

The wonderful feeling of completion

And all the friendly discussions

Another lovely day ends

So peacefully we lay down to rest

Waiting for tomorrow

Another day at its best.

I read this a few times and each time I found more love for it! You talk about a very familiar feeling and I love the connection between your thoughts and the wonderful routines of nature.

It's a narrating poem, I see a man enjoying the evening but also thinking about things...memories that are precious. Liked it, well done.

one of my favorite things to do when I was a little girl was to sit on the porch swing with my grandpa at the end of the day as he smoked on his pipe and we discussed lessons learned and how to put it into practice in our lives.. we would discuss interactions with others and how important it was to always look deeper into others and try and be the best person I could be and the friend I always wanted.. how I should treat others with respect.. He was the wisest person in the world to me.. The memories of the sun setting in the sky, the smoke clouding up around us, the warm comforting pondering of the day.. that is what this lovely piece made me think of.. it has a quiet tenderness and a depth of thinking that also reminds me of him.. the flow was beautiful... I really enjoyed this... one of my favorites of yours.. well done!
