First of the MonthA Poem by ksscampospaycheck to paycheck.First of the Month It comes crawling in Attempting to go unseen It catches you by
surprise No time to realize When it all falls
through It’s the first of the
month And the rent is due! You take a deep
breath When you look at the
paycheck Your world crashes
down There is not enough
in the account! Anxiety and despair
rush in And you freeze A sense of
worthlessness Drowns your smile It’s the first of the
month Where is the money? They want it at once The feeling of
uncertainty Tumbles up in your
gut You feel small Your mind is restless You contemplate In a cry for help you
go to the bank Your card is denied There is no gas in
the tank You worked so hard Trying to make ends
meet Disappointment sits
in Can’t even buy food
to eat It all piles up You’re not sure what
to do It’s the first of the
month And your rent is due! © 2014 ksscamposReviews
