Many wake up and go about the day

Other eyes are shut, breathless

Lifeless they will remain

 

With a pulse that fails to perfuse

Desynchronized beats to death tunes

Will we ever again meet?

Or is this really it?

 

The more questions asked

The further faith is displaced

From birth, all that is taught

Dismantled, if reason is sought

 

Once alive, you will remain

In the minds of whom here stay

No after life you’ll need to seek

No pearly gates

Saint Peter you will not greet

 

Make your time here worthwhile

Love and be loved with no desire for compensation

No need for creed or denomination

Only love

Love for the human race

For the world

Even those you claim to hate

 

When it so happens

That your eyes are shut eternally

Leave behind good memories

Let them tell tales of the one who loved

Even though he knew no god

 

For when your lungs no longer breathe

Your time on earth forever cease

And the people whom you touch

Will always remember

That one kind act,

That person who simply loved
