Have you ever had someone run from you?

I see you laugh, I watch you learn

You seem so cold, but feel the burn

Do you melt when I'm inside,

Because you have no place to hide?

 

Do you sweat when I'm around,

Get that urge to hit the ground?

Are you scared of what you see,

Or are you scared of being me?

 

I see your eyes, they look so old

You're on fire and yet so cold,

You just freeze when I'm inside...

Because it's the only place you hide.

I found this poem to be very powerful. Having been in this same situation, I am able to read into your words deeply. To give so much of yourself to someone and in return get the "smile and a lie" can be lonlier then not having anyone there at all. To be in love is to be one with someone special.To be one is to be inside their heart and soul.Why would someone waste so much time and effort for something not meant to be is very confusing to me. So , yes, your poem struck a soft spot in this reader.Great write.
