Lone or lone?

Which do you prefer?

i used to think, once upon a summer,

that lone could be one's only winter,

that all it took to bind two hearts together

was love and love.

But no, it takes long as though

in distance or in time

to walk these bridges that they built

herein their egos they enshrined.

& God knows what courage it might

to walk this never-ending mile

'cause now it dawns & it dawns upon me otherwise.

i used to wish, once upon a winter,...

& now... now I only wonder.
