A Poetry Collection of An Average Young Man - The Light

A Poetry Collection of An Average Young Man - The Light

A Poem by Kristian Wiseman
"

Darkness without light is an abyss. Light without darkness is blinding. You cannot have a coin with one side.

"
'Night (I)'

Night is the friend that will always have your back.

Like finding a clover in a berry patch.

Stars winkle one at a time,

Like saints turning on their reading lights.

For thousands of explosions,

And one solid, sparkling rock

Are what light my paths.

We are not frightening,

For only misunderstood;

Though we do understand each other,

But never ourselves.

The streets, they're empty.

Like a turtle's shell;

But the shell is hollow without the turtle,

And a turtle may not live without it's shell.

Soft the grass beneath our feet,

Cool the winds that glide our foreheads:

These are some of the many, many reasons why

I feel much less loved in day than night.

'You, The One I Love'

You,

The one I love,

Tender and sentimental,

Apologetic and apocalyptic,

Too liberal to be threatened.

You, the one I love,

I wonder if two may equal one.

Yonder breeze shall knock me down,

Like a domino, but lucky for me,

None will follow.

You make me manic, the one I love,

You give me energy!

I am a trophic level above you, love,

And I shall hunt you!

Your smile is so deep, my love,

Your love is so strong,

You claim your own innocence,

So you are anything but.

You, the one I love,

You add fossil to the fire,

Tranquil and tragic,

Our time is not over.

You, the one I love,

Your footsteps are the knocks on my door,

The pumping of my heart,

The pumping of our heart.

You, the one I love,

Do not leave me now.

Skin so soft and subtle,

Hair shines and light,

Eyes are magnifying and exciting,

Your lips - so red and pulp,

And your name-

Well, that doesn't matter.

'Destiny'

Sometimes I see a misshaped cloud in the sky

And I wonder if that is you.

A majestic beam of light shining down

Following the storm,

That, too, is you.

The crystals of ice upon my window,

Is that you?

You fell to the earth last time,

So now I'm waiting by the ocean.

Your vessel waits with me,

But he is not you.

Please, please, my brother, help me!

The atmosphere is thinner without you.

And the lake he drained

By drinking it with a straw

Is a violation of natural law;

A lightning storm, but nothing else,

That is you!

And now I'm swimming in this ocean

After a log that reminded me of your body.

I saw you diminish, my brother,

On a raft that will not float.

And now you fall as a meteor,

And shatter the earth,

Hollow the ocean,

But stoke the fire.

You have fallen for me;

It is your first mistake.
