The Seventh SecondA Poem by Kristan A. MohammedLosing a loved one is the most painful thing a human can endure. How does it feel to lose your breath? I myself may never know. Until the 12th hour of my own show, When the knowledge won’t make sense anymore.
Send me a reason to stay, Now that the essence has faded away.
What was the last thing you saw? A glistening portrait of me from afar? As you ride on a shooting star, Did you think of me at all?
Give me the choice to believe, In all the hopes that I could not perceive.
Build something that would not wane, Immortal memories for nothing we’d trade. Like the everlasting nocturnal parade, So the blade will cut deeper in the end.
Pen me a message to send, Of what waits behind the river bend, my friend.
Pardon me from pain and from poise, Grant us forgiveness with your voice.
Exorcise this grief inside, Find the bravery to confide.
And question all the answers we live by.
