The Human HysteriaA Poem by Kristan A. MohammedAn interpretation of some the sorrows of the world.A sculpture gazes into the mirror, Through manmade eyes. A dying glass river, Reflects every anatomical glitch. I know nothing is perfect, I’m no fool. I was just born, From the wrong set of tools.
A joker smiles out of his card, A happy face on a sad clown, Hiding a paper frown. But begging in vain, To be a part of the game. With a lust to entertain.
A child of rape cries, Tears cleanses his eyes, Will no one ever love me? A hand to take, And a heart to break, Another human mistake.
An old man shudders before the sea, Salty winds blister his skin. The vacant delight of a cold night, Dances across a landscape of blue. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Like leaves in a rotting garden, Knowing that just one seed, Bears all the hope they need.
A child embraces herbal heaven. Smoke nourishes his hungry breath. He’s too young to be there, But too old to care. He hides within walls of wisdom, Writing his own verse. Mapping his universe. Artificial gladness, Over honest sadness. A father cowers, Behind a bottle of courage. He loses himself, And all he holds dear, To a fleeting high, That he can’t deny. But learns from his mistake. When it’s too late.
Every teardrop is a crystal ball, Screening your pain as it falls.
An empty smile, Is but a puppet to its pride.
Shelved is the book, that longs to be opened, Blocked is the river, trying to break free. Cold is the nomad, searching for home, And lost are words, without originality.
