of fateA Poem by Krista Laraine
Once I was beautiful.
Beautiful as the steady, glowing candles placed inside the windows of New England's winter. Flecks of love in my eyes, desire in my veins, coursing through that sudden storm like the Andrea Gail. For had it been some altered lifetime, I may have blazed on further. A year has passed, precious smile, and still there is the light of admiration upon your halting face. Our shallow breath - it pauses between exchanges like a wise mediator, not entirely certain who to believe. Extract that lingering praise from my lips, again, with such ease and mannered grace. I lean as a compass toward your sins of the highest order. I have searched you for flaws, as you wait patiently for my own to be revealed in time. You wait in vain, like a tragic orphan: I have lost my way of things. I am perfection within your arms, a crystal palace on the sea. I am the silence between each failing word, and all the loathed vanity. © 2008 Krista LaraineReviews
