Fears

Fears

A Poem by Krisbeta

Creatures lurk in the darkness
Feeding on humanity’s fears
Forever they have been
And forever will they be
Stalking us through shadows
Only found with primal ears

Turned to myth and stories told
Relegated to tales of old
Never thought of
Rarely feared

Until the day they call the hunt
As prey we run
Mindless with terror
So used to being the best
We now sink to second

Jumping at shadows
We have been reduced
To frightened prey
In the hunter’s game
We are were we started
Lost in the dark

No longer feared
But fearful
No longer strongest
But weak
No longer most
But least
No longer human

But beast

Sorry, I forgot to say that it's beautiful.

You say there is no meaning, and yet I seem to find one. Humanity thinks that its on top of the world, but there are some things out there that make us look like the weakest things on Earth! Those things are our fears, and they are not easy to conquer.
