Spiral ripples of a dreamers confusion

Spiral ripples of a dreamers confusion

A Poem by Christie Moses

“the closest distance between two points is a straight line”

yet somehow she manages to meander
in abstract ways…
groaning her sorrow in crooked lines

point A becomes the distance
plus some added up distraction
rarely subtracted
by her useless musings
to reach point B

goals are seldom achieved
and when they are
it has been a storm tossed canoe
on a tempest broiled sea
she always seems to make it harder
than it should ever have to be

how she will wander….
aimless in the air
breathing in the wind
when she should be grounded
seeking the future there
in what could be bright hands
and smiling lips

instead
she dreams
like a child does
woolgathers
head lost in the clouded mass
mist of fog stirs her senses
inhaling its essence like life blood
exasperating…she is
loving the mystery

twisting up the path
she brews a bone stew
cracks up her innards
like a bruised crab
no straight lines for her
discombobulated trails
in circles
like a dreamer does
in a zigzag she creates
slithers like a serpent
in asymmetric curves

she makes it so much harder
than it should ever have to be…
point A gets lost in seeking point B
and she is right where she started from
searching to be free

Christie, Were you ever good at math? :0) (Just kidding)

I think i know what you are saying with this one and it sounds like how I myself think. I get distracted easily and change my mind too much. And when i complete something it tends to be radically different from what i originally intended it to be! lol For some reason i think you might be able to relate to that.

isn't it strange how we can talk straighter than we can walk

Saw the title and just had to read this one. You're able to give us a gimpse into the mind of decision and indecision, the dancing play of thoughts and emotions that stir restlessly.. Freedom is hard to come by..

Good creative writing. It has a nice flow as well. Enjoyed the depiction!

oh, indeed the closest distance between any two things is a straight line but we always get lost in the dark mazes and labyrinths that we put around our heart and soul and what was easy and staring in our eyes becomes unachievable and impossible. this is such a stunning write - deep and insightful and soulful.

:) this is def a subject close to me
and i thought the closest distance was always a straight line.. a to b
simple, straight, direct
but
love and distance are not so straightforward
i realized that when i saw it more like stream
an ebb and flow that follows the path of least resistance
again, a beautiful piece .. written with incredible depth
awesome work once again C
