Discount Burritos {A Poem Prompt Response}

Although Living Lavender doesn't take credit for the prompt, this was inspired by her own poem "fill_in_the_blank" that used it.

Do you wonder if {I should eat these discount burritos}?
I do.

The possibility appears sometimes, in my dreams.

I know it can’t happen. {I can't risk going home early after having a blowout.}

That I dare not ask.

But sometimes, I think, {maybe I won't mistrust a fart}

days, that maybe, just maybe, {I won't get explosive, gut-busting diarrhea when I eat discount burritos.}

And {that I won't need spend my night endlessly wiping away what once brought joy}

Author's Note

My version is more so just for laughs and fun. I wanted to see how much of a tangent I could take and make it as "creative" as possible. This poem is inspired by the years I was so poor that some days I would have to make due with these massive discount burritos at a nearby store. They were cheap, but sat like a rock.
