Forgotten Hero

Body lay upon the stone

A hero’s name never known

Stranger with sword and shield

Did not falter nor yield

For you see this strange hero of old

Was not necessarily strong nor bold

But in their heart was a fire lit

And frankly they were tired of this s**t

The hero once more took their stand

With rusted blade at the ready

Even in the face of an army of shadows

Brave hero kept their hands steady

It was the roar that those nearby witnessed

Which stained their very hearts

For the might of the hero still echos in their ears

That mirrored brave hero’s heart

Rusted sword swung with might

Many shadows did the hero slay

The massacre of awful shadows

Is still talked about this day

For the hero kept their courage

No matter how much the shadows lied

He kept slaying his foes

Not caring if he died

For in his soul he knew

Darkness couldn’t harm a heroes heart

And in this land forever more

Did darkness crumble apart

It's a fond read for me, author Kane Hagwood, to read the whimsical poems of other writers. Even if such writings may not have definite meanings, nor a definitive identity, they still provide an incentive for openmindedness in reading poetry and writings as a whole, and they make fun, short reads too. Thank you for sharing your work.
