The walk away

The walk away

A Poem by M.a. Benjamin

“I’ve never felt this bad” you sob

yet your eyes tell a different tale

A notion that trust lost all value

As I turn my back from that banshee wail

The lock is turned

a mind was made

a bag is packed

my feelings fade

all that's left is the lonely walk

and the cadaver of guilt

that wishes I stayed

Hmm heavy, but once that boundary is crossed there's no turning back.

"cadaver of guilt" - interesting image

I love short poems like this! They paint a strong and rich image, yet leave us wondering what we just saw in our heads. I yearn for the story behind these sorts of beauty! Very well done!! (:

Funny how one can sob and still not really mean it. Wow, how many of us are carrying that dead man's cadaver. Love the way you discribed guilt. Glad I read a few of your poems. Thanks for sharing them.
