![]() Eyes On MeA Chapter by Krissy Rey
I made my way back home and tracked up to deck door. Looking behind as I was coming in, to see if anyone was watching me from the tree line. Quickly as possible I got crammed myself in the door. Locking the door to scan tree line a second time. There was no one in the woods but it was still weird to for someone to just run off out of thin air or they just climbed a near by tree to spy from. At the same time, it still feels like there are eyes on me from a distance. I need to distract myself.
I decided to myself with dinner preparations and making potato casserole seemed to be a good idea. Gathering everything I needed, it took my mind off of what encountered in the woods. Bad enough, it got me thinking what was up with Lucius’s stalking behavior earlier. I was making dinner up my parents were just getting off of work for the day. Hearing the front door and keys jingle. My mother’s voice, “Margo. Honey. Are you home?” “In the kitchen,” My voice rang. The clinking of high heels on the floor coming down the hall. Olga Thomas-Devereux appeared in the doorway. She comes around, “It smells heavenly in here. What are you making?” while grabbing a glass from the cabinet. She grabs the cranberry juice then sits at island. My mother was sipping as if nothing was going on. She has a look that said something was on her mind the entire time in the kitchen with me. Dinner was close to being, Olga made herself useful by setting the table in the dinning room. Albert Devereux was just getting in the door when Margo bought dinner in from the kitchen. “Potato Casserole. My favorite, “Albert exclaims walking to the dinning room. He kisses his wife’s cheek then sits down to devour basically the entire dish. Dinner flies by real quick, Albert went to the living room to watch the sports channel while Margo and Olga cleaned up the kitchen. Margo sat at the island after Olga agreed to wash the dishes. Olga looked to be lost in her thoughts tonight. She had that look of wanting to tell her daughter something. Margo was picking up on this. “What’s wrong Mom?” Margo asking. Olga puts down the dish towel and lowers her gaze “I have debating on telling you this. It’s going to be…. hard for me to say this.” She stammering over words. “What is it, Mom?” I asked. “Your father and I have waiting to tell you earlier but we waited until you were older to know. We are witches. So are you. We have been keeping this a secret from you.” Olga let’s the bomb drop for the night. Margo just breaks out in laughter “We are not witches. Believe me I would have known if our family was.” Olga was not laughing about this. It made stop laughing. Realizing her mother was serious about the revelation. Margo just said, “No” and walks out of the room to her bedroom. Olga called after her. Margo sat on her window seat looking at the tree line. Staring into the darkness thinking about what her mother had told her. I mean it could explain somethings that were kind of obvious to her like how her parents were giving either that look at dinner. Margo decided to get ready for bed. Doing so, she made sure to look outside the window again. This time Lucius was standing just in the tree line watching her. She got up closed the drapes to continue getting ready for bed. After Margo went to bed, Olga and Albert were sitting in the living room. Olga turned towards Albert, “I told her the truth about us being witches. She thought I was joking then ran out of the room.” “How did you think she was going to take it. I mean we were putting out signs for her for months. I just worry about the other thing lurking. The feud with the Wentzes Family. We never told her anything about them but in due time.’ Albert telling Olga. Margo's bedroom was over the living room so the vent was right there near her bed. She thought about her parents were saying. Never knowing they were dropping hints under her nose the entire time. What was this family feud going too? © 2022 Krissy Rey |
