Episode 2: Following Darkness

Cali ends up to be following the Reaper. They will share a bond but Cali has a lot to learn.

Scene 1

 

The scene takes place at the woods. The Reaper is riding on his horse and appears to be alone. As he rides his horse, the light in the woods start to dim. The Reaper stops his horse and jumps off. He looks up and around him. There are ghoulish voices that scream and laugh at him. The Reaper looks down and shuts his eyes.

 

Reaper: This is nothing!

 

Voices: But it is something Reaper. You consider yourself the predator, but you should know that you are the prey instead!

 

Reaper: (pulling out his pistol with anxiety) Then why do you lack the ability to kill me?

 

Voices: (laughing) because you never faced the other Greater Ghouls. As we both know, you are on your way to meet them! However Reaper....you must know this. YOU ARE NEVER ALONE! WE WATCH YOU EVERY DAY!

 

Reaper: (in anger) I know, and all of you monsters shall be driven into hell where you belong! YOU THINK YOU CAN LIVE YOUR ETERNAL LIFE BY EATING PEOPLE WHILE I KILL GHOULS!! NOW YOU ALL WILL BE DAMNED!!!

 

The Reaper screams as he shoots his pistol on the air and slices the trees. The light in the woods start to become brighter as it was before. The Reaper stands still breathing heavily. When he stops breathing, he pulls out his bow and arow, turns it around and points it at Cali as she is on her horse.

 

Cali: Now there boy, we don't need that! 

Reaper: I told you to not follow me.

Cali: (looking away) well...i guess i owe you an apology mister Reaper!

 

Reaper: (puts his bow and arrow down) really? Why do i need apology?

 Cali: (takes off her hat and looks at him) I was too arrogant at the bar and you saved my life. In fact I owe you more than that Mister!! 

Cali jumps off the horse.

 

Reaper: what do you want?

 

Cali: to serve you and to do anything you say! I just was amazed by what you did back there. You took out those Ghouls like if you were God.

 

Reaper: No man ever deserves to be worshipped as the Lord. I clearly am not God. You do not want to follow me. My path leads to oblivion, your life leads to your own happiness.

 

Cali: well what do you know about mah life mister? I am a bounty hunter like you who hunts these wanted men all day!

 

 Reaper: then live by that. You would be more happier in that.

 

Cali: (in a softer tone) No Mister Reaper.....i dont know if its the right time to tell you this....but i guess i should. I have no family, no kids, no man, no father, mother, or relative. I really got no where to go. I dont wanna live as a bounty hunter anymore I wanna make mah own livin without shootin people. I would rather shoot monsters

 

Reaper: I chose to hunt the Ghouls and I now pay the price of being hunted by all of them. I too share the lack of family (turns around) but I manage to live without that. And i know where i should go, but only need to figure out how to get there.

 

Cali: But you aint a happy boy. Now that I look back, You dont seem to be completely emotionless and numb as i thought you were. You are sad, lost, and lonely. The fact that you were talking to yourself and went beserk right here tells me so!

 

Reaper: Better to be alone than to be hunted. Are you really willing to live the life as i live in?

 

Cali:....yes I do!

 

Reaper: Then you can never turn back, or you will die.

 

Cali: thats a risk dat im willin to take Mister

 

Reaper: Alright, your company is accepted

 

Scene 2

 

Cali and Reaper are riding on their horses on a plain. The sun is at the horizon. The Reaper and Cali are parallel from eachother.

 

 Reaper: Now there is a new dimension that has access to this world. It contains unholy evil and restless spirits.

 

Cali: how does that dimension get by here?

 

Reaper: however it was...it should have been kept shut. But people keep on opening it and letting the darkness consume them. They become Ghouls. Those savage creatures then have the forbidden abilities that increase their speed and strenth. They use that to devour humans like us.

 

Cali: Oh...well i guess that is when people get desperate! They dont have anythin so they become those freaks

 

Reaper: yes...that is right!

 

Cali: What about you Reaper? Dont you sometimes get desperate? Everybody has his moment

 

Reaper: (turns his head to her) No, not anymore. I dont act irrationaly and i dont act desperately. Those are two reactions that i hate. They blind you from survival.

 

Cali: (looks down) oh...i see. Well after all we are human

 

Reaper: But only the average human is at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to the ghouls. We must adapt and be above them. I dont waste my time hunting regular people, but i do use my time to hunt the Ghouls.

 

Cali: so why and how did you get into the mess with the Ghouls in the first place?

 

Reaper: that does not matter for you. 

 

Cali stares at him and frowns. Lighting reflects on the sky. A storm begins to form. Rain drops hard on them.

Cali: Well why don't we find shelter. Hey, what about that house over there?

She accelerates her horse to that house. Cali gets off of her horse and knocks on the door. A mother and father comes out to greet her.

Cali: Hi there. The name is Cali and we just got ourselves stuck on a storm and we got nowhere to go with this darn rain.

Mother: Oh yes, please come in.

Father: And who is that man in the hat over there?

Cali: That be Mister Reaper.

Father: Reaper? why have I heard of that name before?

The Reaper jumps off of his horse and proceeds to the house.

Father: (stunned when he finally sees him) Oh good god. I know of that man!

Mother: well let's not make things difficult for these two guests and let them in..please.

Father: Alrighty then. Take the son upstairs before he even meets the man.

Cali: Now now....why do you fear him? He is quite friendly.

Mother: Miss...either you don't know what the hell that man is, or you are crazy! May the lord have mercy on us!

Cali: (disappointed) but miss? please...

The mother and father step inside. The Reaper and Cali also step inside. The Reaper takes off his hat and puts it on the rack. Cali takes off her hat and mask. Her upper half of the face reveals the full face of that beautiful woman she is. The Reaper looks at her face. Cali looks at the Reaper and smiles, but he looks away with his straight face.

Reaper: They already fear me. But they should fear what I could bring to these civilians.

Not a whole lot of action but I tried to give Cali and the Reaper a chance to engage some conversation with each other. I hope you can enjoy this. There is more excitement in the next episode. So where do you think this leads to?

Hmmm, I don't know what to say of this chapter really, you gave us an incite into one of the many dangers which awaits your character, the only way I think this is going may actually be to the death of your character, and the further development of Cali, or even the other way around.

you will see. Only one of those choices are correct. There are many dangers that the Reaper faces.

Another good chapter. I think this one needs way more work than chapter one does but the overall idea was good :)

I think that this may lead off to the mother and father being ghouls themselves, or a ghoul comes to their house because the Reaper is their, or Cali and the Reaper engage in an epic love scene...! (the last one was more of a joke, but you never know). either way, I'm interested to see where this leads.
