A Dry Slice of Fear

A Dry Slice of Fear

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I decide to visit the old days
that gave me the purest smile
instead of the cursed constellations.

I find a dry slice of fear
so that I can learn to love again,
slowly, without haste.

Kiss my threadbare heart, lie next to
my exhausted soul.
Feel how fate sings a ballad
robbed of words.

The dawn that is dying in us
could bring torment, uncertainty and anxiety
about the most beautiful cry.

Drops of rain bring me
your irreplaceable name,
my sleepy rush does not give
stale tears.

I sink into the crimson of your gaze,
I kiss the ashes from your pale lips.
I feel the universe ending within me,
the silence breaking free
from my thoughts.

Don't keep giving me the same kisses.
Bring me an armful of black roses
so that they may bloom
on my grave.
