Speechless

Speechless

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

You call my name but all you hear
is an echo of emptiness.
You knock on the ajar door, but
no one opens it.
You no longer remember which angel
deprived you of your soul,
which God punished for a sin
you did not commit.

The stars fall off
the black shroud of night,
the moon tactfully turns its face away.
My thoughts are speechless,
your loneliness no longer seeks
understanding.

You keep pretending that life is a road
to nowhere, the side of the road
where your best friend
stands every night.

Share with me the pain
that will ease my ugly smile.
When dusk falls, we will be reborn
with the brightest star,
with a submissive sleep.
