River of Light

River of Light

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Entangled in my own thoughts,

I wait for the time

to become my shadow as well.

Subordinated to the silence,

I float on the wave of your breath,

I take God's hand and believe

that the pain has stopped haunting

my yearly dreams.

I will wait if the newborn star

resurrects in tears, if the night

turns out to be a memento

of a mismatched word.

I am making love to your

memories again, looking for the key

I threw yesterday into

the rushing river of light.

Has the sound of one who has regrets for a love that was lost. Perhaps that "mismatched word" is the key to the breakup. The last two verses give the impression that the speaker has hope of resurrecting what seems to be lost. The imagery throughout the work is beautiful.
