An Emerald Shadow

An Emerald Shadow

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Virginal steps of

your heart

flourish on forsaken senses,

a heart possessed

by hope

that does not like to smile.

Your tears are forbidden,

cursed in the name

of timid love.

An emerald shadow is dying in me,

I can hear this song again

without unnecessary words.

Don't dance like

the whole world is watching you.

Don't sing so that the other gods

can hear the echo

of your whisper.

Your lips, your heart bear

blemishes after mortal trust.

Acquaint me with your loneliness,

I am so sad.

Don't bring me

the same words

which you have dressed

in a scream before.
