Black and White Meadows

Black and White Meadows

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I met you yesterday as I was walking
through black and white meadows.

There are remnants
of silver-plated blood
in your timid heart.

I'd like to teach you the words
of this song that brings shine
to those who stopped
waiting for life.

Nobody knows that it is enough
to be reborn in the midst of kisses,
between unfinished thoughts.
I will not forget how you woke up
between heaven and earth,
how you took one step
too many.

The black and white rainbow
at your feet is the best memory
from the years of adulthood.
Before I leave you my life
as a souvenir, before the world
goes to sleep again,
I will wake up in the shadow
of your tears, I will be resurrected
from the anger of the future.

I believe hatred will lose the game
with itself, drown out the whisper
of the dying.
