My Pregnant Thoughts

My Pregnant Thoughts

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I met the barren night
in my traditional dream today.
There was not a single star
on her forehead,
not a single kiss on her lips.

Since the dream has become
a reason for freedom,
a pretext for victory,
we will die humbly,
to spite the offended clock.

Don't ignore my pregnant thoughts,
run away from dreams
in which you no longer hear
your heartbeat.

At the behest of faith, you hide
rude prayers, shout so softly
that nearby souls wake up.
