Your First Goodbye

Your First Goodbye

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

God allowed love to wake up
in the hearts of those
who stopped seeing the light
among white roses.

God agreed that loneliness
should be a relief for those
who are hurt by memories.

The tamed truth bears
the most beautiful fruit as always.
Stars are afraid of the morning,
the moon is fleeing to its hideout.

I put your first goodbye
on the shelf,
I hid my most faithful fantasies
in a drawer.
You are resurrected again,
this time you cannot forgive it
in your imagination.

My thorny shadows wander
between earth and heaven.
Love struck us another blow,
this time we will wake up
in a shared dream.
