A Prelude to the Apocalypse

A Prelude to the Apocalypse

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I am looking for words that would help

us save our world.

I am looking for a rebellious hope

that she will wake up a starry night,

a virgin morning with no signs of a struggle.

I hover above the sky,

I hook with the apex of my soul

on God's feet.

Promise me a lack of words

can be louder than a scream.

Your wild dreams tell of imaginary times,

about nobody's eyes

directed at the void.

I lift my heavy body off my soul.

I break free from the suit

that has been suppressing me

since the beginning of your era.

I would like to avoid

the annual examination of conscience,

but I do not regret the love

I have committed.

I may be wrong, but the world has long waited

for someone to color it.

I believe that the black and white

stained glass windows will regain their colors.

Show me a day

that will be a prelude to the apocalypse.
