Behind the Wall

Behind the Wall

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I hide my love behind the wall

you raised on my patient tears.

I think I have found a saved dream

that will bring a lost world

instead of thorny words.

The liberated soul

is unsuccessfully looking for

a reflection in my mirror,

trying to name my smile.

I found in you some bitter comparisons

to loneliness, I stumbled upon

a tired dawn that could become

a new life for happiness,

a childhood for sold freedom.

I thought this world was a testimony

to the madness of God,

but I understood that suffering

was leading in the opposite direction.

I could resurrect your humanity,

but did you deserve it?

Crazy prayer will remain a memento

of the times when time trusted

in loneliness.

I do not want to die among

the ashen meadows, at the foot

of a black and white rainbow

from which all colors have been stolen.
