Above the Clouds

Above the Clouds

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I have hidden my melancholy
in your soft, cozy shade.
The light does not reach
my childish soul.

I would like to fly above the clouds,
but there is no land
from which I can fly.

Give me a little bit of faith in life
that is not the flower of infinity.
I am afraid of the words
you have cultivated for several years,
which have not been enough for you
to overcome the twilight,
to overcome what is due only to
the innocent.

I don't want you to deprive me
of my penance.
Repentance is what today's man
no longer needs.
I do not believe in
the immensity of suffering,
I do not believe in the infinity
of the moment which brings
black and white tears,
a faded rainbow instead of salvation.
