Farewell Letter

Farewell Letter

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Everything that until recently
was just an unfinished farewell letter
dries up in me.
Everything that used to be
a resurrected dream, the new face
of the universe, is fading away
in me.

I am hiding among forbidden forests,
among meadows
where someone has taken all the flowers,
all childhood memories.

Don't play lies,
it's high time to break away
from hatred, with the white tears
of your empty conscience.
Let us not play on the night
when the last red star
of this age, the star of our blood,
awaits us.

I avoid the weight of your words,
your immature confessions.
I would like to cross the thin line
between contempt and humanity,
but my dreams are stuck
in the queue for fresh memory,
fresh past.
