Our Antipodes

Our Antipodes

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Do you know that you are smiling
in your sleep?
Do you remember how beautiful
your thoughts used to be?
Have you forgotten
how you chased the wind,
how the clouds were pink cotton candy?

In spite of the ironic times,
I look for an escape
to where it all began.
Providence, look at the face
of the liar, see his symbolic tears,
which are the escape of the distressed,
which are the unreal desire
of the world.

In the middle of the night,
I dreamed of light.
About a clarity that would shade
wounded words, meanings without value.
Do you hear
your most beautiful myths
passing into the future?
Do you feel the lost paradise
burning beneath you?

I don't want to dream
about lonely prayers,
about abandoned remorse.
Guilt makes the night dress up
in the chicest stars.

I tried to keep the twilight
from extinction, but our antipodes
passed again.
