A Piece of Heaven

A Piece of Heaven

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Although love says my name,
although hatred mocks the emerald sky,
the last flame in me
will not go out.

I run away from dreams
which, instead of light, give me
tired thoughts and exhausted desires.
Don't promise to see
the silence in the mirror of your body.
Do not swear that it is not worth
leaving fresh, warm tears
behind you, too tight traces.

Let's stop pretending
that the world belongs to us.
Sometimes I do not understand
how one can carry the cross
of the scarlet sky, how one can assure
that we will wake up
from the future soon.

I try to fill the gap in my curriculum vitae,
but it's too late to give up childhood,
to abandon freedom.
Impatient stars are waiting in line
for a piece of heaven,
for a piece of naivety.

I have always dreamed of falling in love
with this stream of human dreams,
human ambitions.
And when the evening flashes in us,
we will raise a toast
to life so that it will wait
a little longer for us.

Personally, I say don't wait on life. Mount up and Chase it down! Time is too short to sit in the sidelines. Well done, my friend.
