Same Game

Same Game

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

You play a game the innocent
will lose.
You cherish a future that passed with
the first sun.

You raise a lost, deaf-mute tear
from a provincial puddle.
The flood of time is seized by the light
of the lighthouse,
your letter in the bottle is lost.

Don't run away from the midnight,
wait for me to bring you
a handful of freshly picked stars.

Time is dying in me,
eternity is about to end in me.
Here is a riddle no one can
cut open.

You sing this nice ballad again,
your tears are accompaniment.
Don't pretend you don't care
about tomorrow's dawn.

Rise before our bodies
separate into the antipodes.
This smile doesn't match your fascinating face.
