Against the TideA Poem by Katarzyna Anna KoziorowskaI miss the pain that would break my lonely melancholy. I look again in the silent mirror of your winged heart, I follow the light that your own Sun carries. I die in spite of indifference, I am born in exaltation. Someone inadequate ate a sunny fruit from the forbidden tree. Before time ran out, I lived in a world made in your image. Though white blood flows swiftly in the veins of black porcelain, though pain twists my face in ecstasy, my heart will not stop asking you one step in my clouds. My soul will not die if hope is echoed in our memory. Today we are a mixture of words and thoughts, happiness and death. Do not make me go against the tide, where my time has stood still, the hour put to death by your mirage. I dreamed of the scent of your ruddy skin again, and I woke up again on the wrong day. Forced to dance, I cry in the fifth corner of my head.
