The Map of My Body

The Map of My Body

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I get lost in words
for which I blame tomorrow's dream.
I lose myself in the melancholy
that is a testimony to the silence
growing in my newborn heart.

I see your smile, dedicated to the sky
where your star will never shine.

I am trying to find the future
that will give me you instead of
a painful gulf.
I tried to cheat my dreams,
but you still haven't moved out
of them.
Kiss me in the middle of my soul
if time takes away my love
for blushing stars.

Touch my dreams, let your greedy hands
know the map of my body.

And when I wake up,
do not let the reality bother me so much.

Cheating the dreams never seems to work, the ones that remind us are so resilient.
Especially like the last two stanzas, plus the idea of the kiss in the middle of the soul.
when lips touch the soul, there is electricity and perhaps salvation.
