Touch My Words

Touch My Words

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

The starless night is slowly stripping
my soul out of my body.
Your heart is like the Sun taken from
someone else's sky.
It is like the sunshine
that someone torn from
the last dawn.

I am afraid of your promises
you made in repentance.
Your today's mask is mismatched,
it is time to find a fresh one.

The Moon has fallen asleep
in my embrace, I can feel the sweet weight
of your body.

Do not lie to this light anymore,
do not speak for unfinished truth.

The hour is sweet
when you have finally found yourself.
Touch my words,
feel relieved.

This poem is extremely atmospheric and really pulls the reader in. ‘The hour is sweet when you have finally found yourself.’ That’s such a breathtaking line and I think it’s definitely going in my favorites. I love finding poets who not like not write from the soul, but do it in a way that particularly reaches me. Thank you for sharing! And please keep writing!

Someone tore the sunshine from my last dawn too! How very rude of them! 😊
Touching words is what it's all about, whether here or together, like those times you first meet and talk about everything and nothing forever, or like here where you come to write about them, from the long long ago, in the far, far away. Or does it just feel that way? 😊

"promises you made in repentance" The entire second verse is brilliant and the final verse as well. This is exceptional poetry. Very nicely done. Bravo.

This reminds me of relationships in which one cannot let go of the pull of an ex lover...
the sadness of loss, the questions, the feeling of mistrust that bleeds into a new relationship.
if only the subject of the poem could touch the speaker's words.
There may be love again.

I was here... and listened. Some thoughts we hold inside for a bit as our minds make sense of our acceptance.
