Chapter 6 The arena

The meadow was marvelous flowers and trees, grass, waterfalls and hills. And Vesper livened up even more than she usually had.

“Like it?” Vesper asked me.

I nearly lost my voice in awe.

“I love it!” I said in a small voice.

I didn't know what to say she was just beautiful!

“Your scales are just a purple blaze in the sunlight!” I said.

Vesper stared at me for a long time.

“And you are the most faithful man I have ever met despite some flaws.” She said.

I looked at Vesper. Vesper now was as tall has a small pine tree. There was the flapping of wings and Red appeared.

“Your sister is coming with an army.” He said.

“What?” Vesper gasped.

“Well lets go!” I shouted. Vesper gave me some armor from her wishing power so I would be able to fight my sister once and for all. When my sister found us we were ready and waiting.

“So this is where you have been hiding all along!” My sister growled.

“Well you didn't really look did you?” I asked her.

My sister growled in fury.

“Get them!” She shouted.

I didn't see much because everything happened very fast. First Black-wing appeared and tried to attack Vesper but Red got in the way. He acted like a shield that Red did. But soon he couldn't take the fire because he was scratched and gashed and other things he had. But of course Black-wing got so irritated that the fire that exploded from his mouth was blue. Of course I was busy battling against my sister. I finally tripped my sister and ran to help Red who was under Black. Red pushed him off but Black had chosen another target, me. He jumped at me. I jumped out of the way. I sliced at him the next time he came cutting one of his wings. Black streamed fire everywhere in his fury. He jumped at me again. I rolled and sliced his underside. Black screamed and you thought dragons couldn't do that. It was ear piercing. Black was heaving, his breathing sounded tensed. He turned and jumped again. I stabbed him. This time I got him through the heart. He hit the dirt. I released the blade from his chest and groaned. I stared at him for a while. I turned my back only for a second. All of the sudden he was on-top of me. I looked up at him. I could see his strength was leaving him. I wriggled under his talon and found my knife. I stabbed his talon with my knife. He roared in pain releasing me. I jumped over him and sliced at his forehead. He crashed to the ground and didn't move. And this time I made sure he was dead by jabbing his sides. I turned to Red.

“Hard blocking his fire.” He said.

He turned to me with a surprised expression on his face.

“Did you just kill him?” He asked.

Instead of answering the question I glanced around.

“Where's Vesper?” I asked Red. Red looked very sad.

“As soon as you turned your back your sister got up and has dragon-napped Vesper again, but this time she probably took her to the arena.” Red said. “The what?” I asked.

“The arena is a place where a-lot of people go to test how strong they are in mind and in wit and in body.” Red replied.

“So if Vesper is there then my sister is probably lying to everyone.” I said.

“If you know your sister as well as you do well she just might be doing that.” Red agreed.

We flew to a round shaped building that had no roof and a lot of windows. And I just took a good long look at it, it scare me a-little.

“Its creepy.” I said.

“And not for the faint hearted.” Red said quietly.

We landed at the two front doors and I stared at them.

“Sorry,” I said when Red looked at me funny.

“Every-thing's new to me.”

“Yea I thought you had been here before but if not it'll be really tough for not just you but me also.” Red sighed.

I pushed open the doors and we entered a huge hall-way.

“Only people with invitations are allowed in here.” A man said.

“I have one.” Red said he held out a small red letter.

“Huh so you do have one.” The man muttered.

“And what about you?” He asked me.

“Uh is there a way in without one?” I asked him.

“If your going to fight Boy I suggest you get ready.” A voice said.

I turned to see a old man with a staff just standing there in the dark.

“Who are you?” I asked the man.

“I am Darkness your sister's friend.” He said.

“Your friends with Sister?,” I asked him.

“Because anyone who's a friend of Sister's is a enemy of mine.” Darkness laughed.

“Just follow me Boy.” He said wiggling a finger at me.

Well he led me to a armory where I got ready for whatever was going to come. The first thing I fought was un-dead skeletons which weren't very hard. Meanwhile the judges were observing the fight Darkness was among them.

“Can't you see Vekah that is a good fighter.” Darkness chuckled.

“Wait till he sees what I have in store for him master.” Vekah said.

Vekah was tall, his eyes were red. His hair was all over the place making him look wild. He was under the supervision of Darkness for now. The next thing I dealt with were some giants which wasn't easy. I glanced around to just observe the crowd.

“Whats his name again?” Vekah asked one of the judges.

“His name is...,” The judge read my name very slowly.

“Pullus.”

“What?” Darkness shot a glance at the paper.

“Sneaky kid isn't he?” Darkness growled.

“Oh don't worry master,” Vekah laughed.

“What is next is what will get his goat ha ha!”

I was just standing there among the rocks and looked around.

“And now,” An announcer shouted from somewhere.

“Pullus will fight a golden- back dragon!”

“No way!” I thought.

“Golden backs are entirely golden and very smart.” I glanced around and saw the dragon on one of the tallest rocks. It was as large as two horses, had golden scales and golden eyes.

“Come on!” I shouted.

The dragon roared and flew over me and landed on another rock.

“To afraid to hit me huh?” I asked it tauntingly.

The dragon shot a bolt of orange fire at me, I dodged the fire and shot forward and broke into a run. The dragon pounced and landed next to me. I nearly yelped in surprise.

“Come on Pullus!,” Vekah shouted.

“To afraid to lay a finger on it?”

I shook my head and ran towards the dragon. It swung its tail at me but I jumped over it.

“Ha!” I laughed.

But the tail came back and I had to back-flip to dodge it. It shot some needles at me from its tail I blocked them with my shield.

“Freaky.” I muttered.

I rolled under it and jabbed it with my sword. It roared in fury and shot some more fire at me. Wow it was hot. (Basically it hit me.) I jumped out of the way and tried to relax a-little. But I found it rather impossible with that dragon always firing a blaze of fire. I finally and jumped out and landed on top of the dragons head.

“Whoa!” I shouted when it tried to get me off by shaking its head madly.

I held its horns to gain a little balance.

“Why don't you reveal her now?” Darkness asked Vekah.

“All in good time master, just as you told me, wait and listen.” Vekah replied. It finally shook me off but I wasn't very far away from it, I was aiming for the beasts heart but something in the back of my head told me not to harm it. I jumped towards the dragon and thrust my sword out in front of me. As soon as I was really close the man Darkness called Vekah, snapped his finger, and right in front of me was the dragon I had lost twice in a row. It was Vesper. I veered to the left and hit the dirt.

“Weak.” I heard Vespers voice mixed with my sisters and Darkness's and a more deeper one.

I stood up and put my hand on its head.

“You cannot defeat us all together!” He heard those voices again.

“I can and I will!” I shouted.

I put my hand on its forehead.

“I am boy the poor farmer and I am your friend because I rescued you from an arrow your name is Vesper you were always Vesper the queen of the evening star, when you told me you would grant a wish I never wanted anything, it was my sister who did,”

I told it through my mind to Vespers.

“I helped you out of the jail even though I was angry you helped me when I was ill and I helped you also!”

I kept going I could feel Vespers mind growing stronger.

“You showed me a river and a meadow I fell for you and then we battled my sister and I want to save you Vesper and I will!”

I was done, all the energy I had was almost drained. Vespers eyes turned sky-blue again. (Before hand they were red.) I collapsed from exhaustion. I tried to get back up but a magic spell held me down.

“Very good brother.”

I heard my sister say.

“Vesper help me!” I shouted through my mind to hers.

Vesper blinked and stared at me in realization.

“Boy!” She shouted.

“Help!” I said.

Vesper growled at my sister who took a step back in fear. Vesper grabbed me and took off flying.

“I'm so sorry Boy!,” Vesper yelled above the wind.

“I don't know what came over me.”

When we returned I was very, very tired. I fell asleep in a chair.

“Poor thing.” Vesper thought, she put a blanket on me to keep me warm. I woke up to see Vesper looming over me.

“What?” I asked.

“Oh nothing.” Vesper sighed.

“Well,” I said.

“I don't really know what to say.” I said.

Vesper licked my face.

“You are so faithful.” She said.

“Well its all a days work.” I said smiling.

I kissed her nose, she trembled as if she liked it.

“There.” I said.

“Oh,” Vesper smiled.

“Thank you.”

I felt better after that.
