Chapter 3: Wishing Bad, Dragon GoodA Chapter by KornezChapter 3 wishing bad, dragon good. It was summer just two weeks before Vesper's 2nd birthday and I was expecting that day not for a wish but to give Vesper a gift for her kindness. Vesper now was as big as a horse and a half. But my sister had other plans so she walked up to me and spoke. “One more?,” she begged. “You can stay with your dragon and on its birthday, ask for a castle, and I want her to live in it, so I can wish without you running off whenever I want!” I didn't know what to do but the best thing I did do was to pack up and run away. As soon as I got to the cave my mind screamed “Why? I don't understand.” I didn't know it but Vesper was standing right behind me just listening. “Because,” She said quietly. “You warned her and she ignored you and now may I ask you Boy, what did she wish for?” I noticed she wasn't talking with her mind now, but with her mouth. I couldn't tell her, it was too hard but I tried. “My sister wants-” That's all I could do for I spun around and hugged her leg and cried for a while. Vesper was concerned. “Is it that bad?” She asked. I only nodded sadly. Vesper seemed to understand but she still was curious. “Can you tell me now?” She asked pushing me back a little so she could look into my eyes. “Well?” She asked. “She wants a castle.” I said. “Is that all” Vesper asked looking quite impressed and confused. “No it isn't,” I managed to say. Finally I screamed. “She wants to make a wishing slave out of you!” Now it was Vesper's turn to be sad. “You warned her, you did, and she betrayed us both,” She said sadly. “And now she will suffer for it.” She started swinging her tail back and forth. “What are you doing?” I asked. “I'm taking back everything I gave her.” Vesper replied. “Don't-” I tried to say but Vesper gave me a look that stopped me. “You have a different plan?” She asked. “Yes.” I replied. She stopped what she was doing. “And what is it?” She asked. I smiled. “We will let her keep what she has and see what happens.” I said. Vesper didn't like the idea. “We will see.” She sighed. I turned to her and smiled. “Come here.” I said. She came, I pulled her closer. “Its all right, my sister doesn't know I'm here.” I softly said. Vesper sighed, and her sky-blue eyes looked away. I pressed her head up to my chest, Vesper's eyes widened in surprise. She knew what I was doing although I wasn't very sure. I was showing her that I loved her and she knew I did. I patted her massive head and picked up my walking stick. “Where are you going?” Vesper asked. “To the market gotta get somethings.” I replied. Vesper smiled. “Go on.” She whispered motioning with a talon and this time I smiled. Not knowing what my sister might be plotting at her castle. It was the irony of life. “If only we knew what is to come,” Vesper sighed. “I smell trouble.” “Come on Vesper,” She thought. “Quit worrying.” © 2016 Kornez |
