Memories Still With Me

The chirping of cicadas outside the window is a countdown timer
The test score is like a climbing vine
The butterfly I drew on your palm
did it fly away?

The clouds are the kites that the sky flies
We, who are running in the field, represent the youth
Don't be afraid to get hurt
Run towards your dream boldy

I still remember me waiting for you to finish your class
And I was holding the flower for you
Students laughed at me
because the flowers were so fresh that bees were still on them
Oh, I got stung
Oh, you smiled
Oh, that's awkward
Oh, you are blushing

The swing under the maple tree
My secret crush in the midsummer
We said we will be forever with each other
The light on the porch
The school's silhouette

It's going to be memories
The day we graduate
Time that has left
Can we not say goodbye that easily?

Push down the camera shutter

Hand in hand
to pause our childhood
What about the remaining midsummer?

Teacher, did you see it? We have finally graduated!
You said you liked to see our smiles.

Look, we are smiling so happily
We will always be here

(Tribute to one of my teachers that I had a big crush on! She was only a few years older than all of us. I recently learned she lost her fight with breast cancer. Rest in peace, Mrs. Yu and others who have lost their fight with cancer.)

This is such a cute and sweet memory. Having a crush on your teacher is something I remember too. In highschool my history teacher had a surgery with some complications and we had a substitute, Mr. Powers, and I really had the hots for him. It's surprising I even learned anything because all I'd ever do was stare at him and think dirty thoughts lol. One of my few good memories from highschool. Your memory seems a lot more pure than mine in for sure but it's a similar memory all the same.

This poem was so heart touching..You didn't told me that she was actually your crush!! I was imagining the whole situation as I read your poem...At times , the poem sounded so sweet like that boy waiting outside class with a flower in his hand...I can understand you must be feeling really sad...Actually sometimes I am myself in a big doubt regarding this cycle of birth and death...Even if I try hard I can't be like those people who say that death is a thing which is bound to happen..She was just too young to leave this earth..But we can't help it...This was a beautiful tribute to her..You know Ji Suk most people here , they right from their mind and not heart and you write everything with your heart...That is the thing that I always want to read every writing of yours because you pour your feelings and emotions in it...
