Sunken Love

A short story song I wrote based on Japanese literature on a famous story

For thousands of years,

I impatiently waited at the bottom of the ocean for true love

When I got tired of waiting and rose to the surface, my hands outstretched for love

Your smile fished me out

I don’t want to let you go just because we live in different places

I wonder, this is my only chance

Being with you brings me happiness

I’ll make you lose track of time with these special dance steps

Won’t you dance with me?

Tonight, I want to forget to breathe and intensely drown in love

It’s just like “the male mandarin duck’s play,” isn’t it?

Tonight, I want to bathe in the splashes that we make every time we dancingly swim

I'll try to be careful not to get addicted to you

Living in luxury for several magnificent years,

I deeply desired true love

Even so, I sense that the end is near

From the sudden sad look on your face

You probably have a home to return to

I won’t say goodbye, but instead give you a gift

I’ll fill a box with memories belonging to just the two of us

Just for right now, you are mine

Tonight, I want to tell of my love in a way more reliable than words

Tonight, I want to drink up all of the waves that close in as we grapple

I don’t have the composure to be gentle with the body that satisfies me at the final feast

I can’t go back now to the way I was long ago, when I didn’t know you

So let’s make this an extraordinary night

Tonight, I want to forget to breathe and intensely drown in love

Beautiful- made me think of Jim Croches song- ‘Time In A Bottle’- oh how beautiful that you’ve waited so many years to find that true love but alas it doesn’t seem to be how sad - cherish every second- but I cannot think of anything worse than having to let it go- I think it might have been better not having had it at all?? Wonderful words and picture painted here🌹
