Coral ShellsA Poem by TheSadSnowmanThis piece explores silence. it explores how so much love and kindness is held back for the fear of being spurned. This is dedicated to all the things we don't say.
The smile that almost fluttered to your face
The trembling hand you wished to take The silent tear that slipped to the ground The child that hid away wanting to be found That echo of your soul, which died in your throat. The love in that unfinished letter, the rose of regret that withered forever The traveler you wished would stay, the parting gift you never gave away The wanderer's shoes never found home, and someone cried deceit at the forever waiting shore. The overflowing coffee cup, always too much yet never enough The hesitant heel tapping the ground Clasped hands holding words that never made a sound A speechless Snow White expects an echoing well Ariel craves pearls yet refuses to leave her coral shell; The heart we want to wear on our sleeve is scared of the light, and that is our plight.
