SoldierA Poem by Koiel“I’ll be right back, hold on, bebe..”
I send my heart across the seas
To a land I’ve never known, And in it hope that you receive A love only I have known. Back at home, yes here, I stand Alone and nearly broken, But the promise keeps your heart at hand And my body from being unwoven. The tree we planted in the yard It’s branches frigid and mangled, Mother Nature has played her winter card But in the summer it shall untangle. I suspect your departure will take longer Than your original statement But maybe when the sun isn’t somber We can let our love be blatant. I pray you’re back by when you said While it’s still cold out in the snow, That way my cheeks stay warm and red And you can scare away the crows. © 2017 KoielAuthor's Note
