Love Me Yesterday, Like Tomorrow; Leave TodayA Poem by KoielLeave Today
Love me like yesterday, when the air was cold yet your chest was warm. When your heart beat for only one, me, and your eyes never lingered.
Love me like yesterday, when the clouds never stayed too long; when the sky opened its arms to us in merry greeting. When your feet were planted, and your back was straight. Love me like yesterday, when the trees were full and heavy with fruit. When your hands were soft and strong. Love me like yesterday, because though times were hard, we were strong. Love me like tomorrow, when our lives will have taken off. When nobody can tell us no or stare us down in the presence of hate and discord. Love me like tomorrow, when the weather will be fair, the skies clear, always, and our hearts are grown into. When our minds won't trouble us as though we are ill youth. Love me like tomorrow, don't you remember our plans? When my womb will be filled and our fingers dressed in gold and diamond. Love me like tomorrow, though it is unsure. When everything will be perfect, even in the face of imperfection. Don't love me like today. Because today is hard. Leave today in the dust, And come for me tomorrow.
