Fish

Wearing nothing but a robe, he sat in the floor in front of the big television in their bedroom, a controller in his hand.  He had recently gotten out of the shower, leaving the bathroom open.  Dew-looking droplets still grasped at his short, tight curls.  He was focused on his game, a set of headphones cuffed over his ears.  He would have played the sound through the T.V. if it weren’t for the cutie, who he thought was still asleep at this moment, under the covers.

Sitting behind him on the bed, she had actually woken up a few minutes earlier.  He didn’t notice her stirring; his headphones were on.  She was watching the silent screen quietly, hearing nothing but a few stray noises escaping the speakers around his ears.  She swung her legs out from under her and placed her feet on the carpet, wriggling her toes.  She stretched far, her back popping a few times before she slumped back over, still tired.  She stood behind him for bit, out of it.  He turned his head to the side a bit, and saw her out of the corner of his eye.  He reached up and took one side of his headphones off, so he could hear her and the game.  He kept his eyes on the screen.

“Hey, babe.  I was gunna wake you up at 11.  You know, like, to let you sleep,” he said, clearing his throat once in between his words.  His fingers were hard at work on that controller.  She looked over at the alarm clock.  11:34.  She sucked her lip in, annoyed.

“It’s past 11,” she said raspily.  He darted his eyes from the screen to the clock, then back to the screen.  Back to the clock once more, and back to the screen.

“Dang, baby.  I’m sorry.  I was playing my game.”

“I see that..”  She walked soundlessly to the window and drew the curtains back, sunlight peeling through the cracks of the blinds.  The room lightened and opened up.  She walked back over behind him and looked at the screen.  His eyes were still fixated on it.  He didn’t seem to notice that she let the light in.  She peered over at the desk, which had her long blue sundress, the one he liked, folded up and ready to wear.  Her flats were set out too, all of which were put there the night before by her.  She sighed gently.  “I think I’ll take a shower,” she grunted.

“Uh-huh, yeah, okay.”

“Do we gotta go anywhere today?”  She stood there.  No answer.  “Do we gotta go anywhere?”  No answer.  Did he just ignore me?  “Hey!” she snapped, “You listening?”  He huffed and yanked his headphones off.

“Huh?”

“I asked if we had to go anywhere today.”

“Uh,” he replied lamely.  “I don’t think so?”  She looked at the back of his head, tapping her foot.  She waited for him to tell her that they had planned on going out to lunch and maybe grab a movie, like they had just talked about last night.  “Oh!” he exclaimed.  She smiled a bit.  He remembered!  “Can you stop by that pizza place I like?  You know the one.  I want some food.”  She frowned and rolled her eyes, then walked into the bathroom.  She shut the door loudly, not quite slamming it, but it was enough to make him jump.  Dang, he thought.  He looked at the clock.  What’s her problem?

In the bathroom, she got undressed and turned on the water.  She waited for the water to warm up, and then stepped in to the tub and turned on the shower head.  She pulled the curtain and let the warm water run over her body.  She hummed sweetly and washed her long locks of brown curls.

He heard her hums and looked in the direction of the bathroom.  Something caught his eye.  He turned his head some more…  “Her sundress!”  He said it out loud.  He remembered the conversation like it had happened moments ago.

She looked at him, blinking her big, grey eyes slowly.  “I wanna go out tomorrow,” she mumbled.  He smiled at her, more awake than she was.

“Yeah?”

“Mhm…”  He brushed the hair out of her face and kissed her head.

“How about I take you out to lunch tomorrow..  You like that?  I’ll treat you real nice, and we can go see a movie or something.”  She smiled tiredly, and he laughed a bit at how goofy her face was; her eyes half closed, smiling like a little goofball.

He threw his headphones off and got up quickly.  He looked at the time.  “Dang!  She was right!”  He yanked off his robe and rushed to the closet naked.  He noticed the sunlight and did a double take at the open window.  He shrieked and hid himself behind the closet door, hoping nobody saw him.  He pulled on some pants, skipping the underwear and grabbed a random shirt out of the closet.  Pulling the abnormally-tight shirt over his head, he ran over to the window and looked out.  Nobody.  He sighed with relief and made his way to the dresser, tugging at the shirt.  “Dude,” he said, walking in front of the mirror.  “Why does…  Is this her shirt??”  He let out a loud ‘Ugh’ and peeled it off of him.  He trotted back over to the closet and picked out his own shirt, throwing it much more easily over his head.

It was then that he heard the bathroom door open.  He looked around the closet door and shut it, looking at her wrapped tightly in her little towel.  She was holding it up at her breasts.  He gave her a big smile.  “Hey!”

She looked at him and stuck her nose up, walking around him.  He followed behind her.  “Hey, baby!”  She continued to ignore him, sitting down on the edge of the bed and leaning over a bit to go through the dresser drawers.  She pulled out some panties and laid them on the bed.  She went to the drawer below and pulled out some sweatpants.  “Why you getting those things out?”

“We aren’t going anywhere today,” she said, mocking his voice.  He tried hard not to giggle.  She was being serious, he could tell that, but dang if she wasn’t adorable attempting to do it.

“Hey, hey, I remember babe, we were gun"”

“Look away,” she interrupted him.  He turned around and continued talking.

“We were gunna go out and do stuff today.”  She pulled on her panties, his back to her.  He thought about the sweat pants and realized she was about to put those on instead of the dress.  He whipped around and went over to her, seeing her holding the pants, about to pull them on.  He walked in front of her and took them.  She squealed, covering her bare breasts with her hands.

“I SAID LOOK AWAY!!!”  Her face was turning bright red.  He grabbed hold of the dress in his hand and pushed it towards her chest.

“Put that on,” he said.  “I wanna take you out.”

She squeaked, “STOP LOOKING!!!”

“Babe, I’m not looking!” he said, peeking down at her thighs.

“STOP IT!!!!!”  By now, her face was flushed and she was beyond embarrassed.  “I don’t want to go out with you today!  Not anymore!”  She was acting much more upset than she actually was, hoping to make him feel a little bad about forgetting.  She made a face, pushing her lips together and crinkling her eyebrows.  He looked up from her thighs to her face sincerely, but upon seeing her face he threw himself back and laughed whole-heartedly.  “What??”  She said defensively, her face and cheeks bright.  “I’m serious!!!”  Her voice cracked.

He could hardly speak through his laughs.  “You look like a fish with that face you got on!”  She tried really hard not to smile.

“N-no I don’t!  Stop that!  Stop laughing!”  She tried to compose herself and make her face more convincing, but it only made him laugh more.

“Ah, you’re so cute!” he said loudly through his laughing.  She started giggling.

“Stop that, I’m mad at you!”  She started to open her voice and laugh.

“But ba-a-a-abe!  You look like a fish!”  At that, they both started laughing more together.  She clutched the dress to her chest to keep her breasts from being exposed, and she layed back on the bed and laughed.  He got up from the floor and laid down next to her, both giggling at each other’s stupid sounding chuckles.

He looked at her, still laughing, and leaned in and kissed her lips softly.  She was still giggling, but blushed hard at his gesture of affection.  His laughing slowed, as did hers, and he kissed her again.

“I’m sorry, dear...”  He kissed her again.  “I didn’t mean to forget.”  He kissed her jaw.  She smiled at him.

“It’s okay, boo bear..”  He moved her wet hair from her cheek.

“Let me put that pretty thing on you.”

“You still want to go out?” she asked closely.

“Of course!  Let’s get you dolled up for me.”  She beamed.

“I love you,” she told him, and kissed him three times on his plump lips.

“I love you too, cupcake.”  He pecked her forehead and got up to dress her.

“You still can’t look,” she said, attempting to raise one eyebrow.

“Aw, why not?” he teased.  She looked sternly at him.  “Uh,” he laughed nervously.  “I’m just playing…”

“Uh huh.  Yeah.  Okay.”  He smiled at her.

“I won’t look.”  And with that, he turned away and closed his eyes.  She got her bra on, and tapped his shoulder.  He helped her into the long sundress, watching it fall around her curvy body.  He smiled, obviously impressed with her.

“I gotta go put makeup on,” she said, walking into the bathroom.  He grabbed her by the arm.  She looked up at him confused, and he held her there firmly.  He planted one solid, long kiss on her tiny pink lips.  She stood there, drunk off it.  Her words slurred.  “What was that for…”

“You don’t need makeup, sweet cheeks.  Let’s go.”  She followed his lead out the door, and they went; her blushing hotly the entire time, and him smiling proudly to show her off to the world.

Oh my goodness! I couldn't help but smile all throughout reading line. It was so good! I like the subtle hints and descriptive language of like, their positions and the expressions on their faces. The crinkling of her eyebrows and the mistake of him putting on shirt lol. That was really funny but adorable at the same time. Oh! And one other thing I thought that was cool was the italics on the previous day's conversation. You used that very well, Koiel! I haven't written in like, a day or so, but your story gives me ideas.

Some women dont need any make-up - In fact I contend that make-up takes away from a woman's natural beauty.
A nice story
