Glass Doll

Glass Doll

A Poem by Kohleen

I’m an ancient wooden puppet doll
And will never cease to be
A dummy dancing on the popper’s knee.
Words are written on my lovely lip
Poems, sonnets, jokes, and songs,
All as strong as winter’s silent nip.
Limbs attached to iron strings,
Moving with cracking wrist;
Strings that always seem to twist
With no avail, to no appearing rest,
To that I do contest.
Voices come and voices go,
Never one to be my own.
Maybe if I make the wish...
A wish or three could do the trick,
Then I’ll cease to be a porcelain dish,
Always cracking with no repair,
Glassy eyes wish a lifeless stare.

Really beautiful =) I loved it! The control reminds me of society's control of women's beauty in my opinion. 100/100

Nice, only suggestion: too much consonance in the last line-- too much 's'

Or, not necessarily a mistake, but...whatever
Is that poem about a doll, or yourself? Somber, but it can be our life story sometimes if we don't stand up for ourselves: speak up and do not be played with by a marionette!
