The Box

The Box

A Poem by Amber
"

Based on a true story

"
A little red box
What used to hold two pairs of shoes,
Now holds memories
Near and dear
We signed it in paint,
with glitter, and glue
We wrote our names
with a sticker to match.
Filled inside
not but one thing about you,
the rest, trash, in our box
not true
not trash,
but just nothing else
of me and you.
A note, with one attached
One written in code,
The other decoding.
What was meant for you,
But never seen by eyes but mine
The note,
Just some simple words,
But meaningful
Signed in love you
By me.
Why it was never given
None will know
For memories fade,
Regrettably,
And all I have to remember you
Is the note
And the little red box.
