Beauties Lie

Beauties Lie

A Poem by Kodizee
"

All that glitters is not gold

"

She doesn’t wait for someone

Or something

To show her the way

A new day;

Adventure in her own way

Pausing to let none stay

Or give her thoughts sway

No ill tide can break her stride

Her head is not bowed

She doesn’t shout

To make herself loud

Her metaphysical recreation

Eludes the ocean of my imagination

The fire of her eyes

Giving light to the truth of lies

It seems she may be the paramount prize

But is there a book beyond the cover?

The stray thought

For my doubts to rediscover

A stray glance

Misfortunes look

As swift as my heart she took

Is she as the first glance saw

Absolute elegant beauty

Seemingly without a flaw?

But as she raises the knife

And death is before my eyes

He lets me know the truth

The doubt behind the lies

The doubts that went untold

Her cold eyes are now only on the gold.
