The Cocoon

A Chapter by Danny Cole
"

8 syllables on all lines. ABABCDED structure, although resets after 8th line so next 8 lines are FGFGHIJI and so on. Every 7th line (E,J and so on) must be two words that rhyme on the same line.

There's always another chapter
But the book doesn't seem to change
Wish I could read a new genre
But only the writer's to blame
So i'll place down this book today
i'm inhaling urbane, fresh air
They boast 'life's a roller-coaster'
Plural rides should make a funfair

A caterpillar hibernates
As it prepares for its cocoon
It wraps itself and meditates
Thus with beauty it shall resume
This butterfly is working hard
Witness umbra under its eyes
Small price to pay to fly away
Leaving behind a grand surprise

The tortoise shrewdly beat the hare
Not with speed, but dedication
Whilst smug sloths will be unprepared
Then crushed, becoming omission
What if the tortoise was anxious
And the journey filled him with doubt?
Would the aftermath change his path
Or would victory still play out?

Author's Note

Danny Cole
What the poem is about (fun to guess)
^_^ I want things to change and to be more adventuresome, but only I can change things.
^_^ I am working hard in the background and it will pay off when I'm successful.
^_^ does negativity change my actions, therefore the outcome? I think it does!
