Chapter 1- RueA Chapter by KnoxxehThe ringing of people going in and out of the coffee shop just kept playing in Rues ears. Her head kept on pounding one after the other ring after ring never stopping. She set her coffee down as the cup started to make a ring of liquid around the cup she read her magazine that she had picked up on the way in. She didn't really read the thing she just liked to look like she was interested in something. The only reason she was hear was because she had nothing better to do and she liked the places coffee. Working was all she really ever did, trying to become a lawyer was hard work.
Grabbing a pen she started to tap that all tap the pen onto the glass table, at first the tapping was all over but more and more it started to go into rhythm with the ringing at the door. As she put down the magazine Rue started to examine everyone who came through the door. People in Rues eyes were just one big story that you could figure out by their appearance. The girl that had her face caked in make up and cover up is probably hiding a few scars and bruises from the world. The man who stares out the window with sadness on his face must have bad news swimming through his brain maybe his wife and him are getting a divorce or he got fired. The people with the computers working wanting to show the world that they are important but Rue doesn't see it she just thinks their being show offs.
She stared back down at the glass picking up her cup and taking a drink then placing it in a different place, as she used her middle finger to swoosh the liquid from the previous spot around. Rue thought she needed help sometimes but to be honest she was the most sane person you could ever meet always grounded never did anything unusual. As she pulled out her phone she started to search the Internet for something to do nothing really happens in this town of Lincoln. She stared at her phone for quite sometime before putting it down onto the table, she had blocked the sound of the ringing out for some time but it was back now.
"Hello miss would you like me to refill your coffee?" A waiter asked as he was passing by.
"No, I'm good I'm just about to leave." Rue answered in a sort of annoyed tone.
"Well then have a nice day miss." Rue picked up her stuff and headed the door when she saw a man running in the distance not to far wearing only a hospital type gown. It was strange almost all people Rue could figure out a little bit about them but with this man there was nothing. The man wore squared glasses people would call them nerd style. They were brown just like his hair that was short the only thing long about his hair was the bangs and they were spiked. The man rammed into Rues shoulder as he ran through the doors.
"Watch where your going." He looked frightened from what Rue could tell he'd been running for maybe a few miles sweat soaking his gown. It wasn't a complete hospital gown because it had no opening in the back like those gowns usually do. So if he wasn't running from a hospital where was he running from. "I'm...I'm...sorry." He said while backing up towards the counter. He turned to the cashier as he pulled a ten from the pocket in his gown. He ordered just a regular coffee nothing special as the cashier was hesitant to take the ten because of it being soaked from the sweat as well. He tried getting closer and closer to the ten but then gave up and brought his hand back.
"You know what its on the house." He said sounding disgusted beyond belief. The man on the other hand smiled which seemed weird to Rue.
"Thank you very much sir." Stuffing the ten back into his pocket he turned and started to head for the door. Something fell out of the pocket though as Rue walked towards it, it almost looked like a chip or a circuit but for what. Rues hands slid onto it as it shocked her at first but then became friendly to the simple touch. As Rue picked up the chip she ran outside to see if she could catch up with the man. All she saw when she exited the coffee shop was a cup laying on the ground lid off and the coffee that was once inside spilled on the pavement. © 2011 KnoxxehReviews
