Our Brightest Light (Restored)

The man of a thousand voices
Each sings a different tune
Each note precious and unique
No word casually strewn

You have given life to shadows
And in all of us, so much more
Cowboys, Knights, Angels, and Goddesses
Despite the tainted self reflections
we seem to adore

You have shown us your tribulations
With such beautiful, modest grace
Each visit to your realm teaches us more
That there are places in the stars
where we can take our place

You have never breached your character
Or stabbed the cat to save the dove
You taught me to trust the flow of my pen
And what God meant when he said
to your neighbor give your love

You have given me the courage
To leave the past behind
Robert, your words are the salve
To ease my troubled mind

Wow MMM. I am at a lost for words and you know that never happens. LOL First of all THANK YOU. I am completely flattered by this, this beautiful piece of art. You are such an amazing writer and inspiration to me continuously. I have never had anyone ever write anything about me. I am truly humbled by the words you say about me. To know I made an effect on someone is the greatest gift that I could ever receive. Thank you for your friendship and wonderful words of praise.

Oh my! A wonderful tribute. Hold on to him with everything you've got. I've been lucky enough to read some of his work myself. :)

You have never breached your character
Or stabbed the cat to save the dove
You taught me to trust the flow of my pen
And what God meant when he said
to your neighbor give your love

This sings of an unconditional, trustworthy friendship and working relationship of peers. His talent is flexible and you capture that greatly. What a nice read to be in the popular section today.

Very nice!
Stacy :)

Amanda,
What a wonderfully creative gesture for a friend. It is certainly very clear that you have drawn a lot from Robert's friendship and from his poetry and words. The last verse is fantastic and such an awesome way of saying thanks. Also, I found it to be a very accurately stated piece about Robert, only from what I know of his written work - of course. I feel you have written a beautiful piece that is complete with friendship and admiration. Well Done... and yes.. I also think that Robert is a very inspirational person and writer.

Praise indeed. Flattery in art, and flattery in thought. Robert should be justly proud of your adoration and adulation.

This such a great tribute to a great writer and friend to me... I agree one hunderd percent with what you have said in this piece. This is written with beauty, grace and heart which makes it spectacular and I know Robert had to be grinning ear to ear when he read it.

What a lovely homage to a writer who has been unremittingly honest in sharing of himself through his works. Those connections are at the heart of great writing, and it is obvious he has succeeded with you! Nice form, flow and rhyme, and above all, meaning.
