Part 3: The Kingdom of Keris

The opening of part 3!

“Investigations of last months Bandits Attacks are still underway.” The reporter said. “And witness states that there were two children who have gone missing after the attack. Emmet and Esther Fields. Their mother, Margret, has been asking the town’s people day and night if there has been any sign of her children.”

The scene on Clair’s phone changed as she watched the reports of Margret as she came on screen. Since she saw the farm go up in flames, her family had taken in Margret and helped her flier the town for Emmet and Esther. The poor woman was broken down when the reporters asked her for a statement earlier that day.

“They’re my kids,” Margret said. “I’ve lost my husband, his dragon, and our farm. If I give up and lose my kids, what life would I have left?”

“Were they unhappy at home?” The Reporter asked. “Or acting differently?”

“No, not to my knowledge,” Margret told them. “They were happy, we were all happy… I don’t know what happened to change everything so suddenly…” At that point, Margret had started crying.

The reporter was going on into details that suggest that Emmet and Esther had started the fire when the bandits attacked and ran off, but Clair didn’t believe that one bit. She knew Emmet and Esther. They would never do such a thing to their home.

But the question the reporter asked… Were they acting different…. Emmet had been. At the start of the previous month, Emmet had suddenly taken up studies about dragon Eggs. It was all he’d ask about; How long they took to hatch, what the stages of hatching were…

Clair paused. Why would he be interested in eggs a month before all this happened? Could it be that he…. No way. That was impossible!... Could it?

She turned to her computer and turned it on, quickly searching for the announcement of the Stollen Royal Egg. It was reported a few weeks ago, a few nights before the Sunny Glades Farm burned down. And the report had said that the egg had been missing for a month and a half…. 

“Oh God…” Clair mumbled, her thoughts mulling over what she was thinking, trying to debunk it. She didn’t have enough evidence herself to be sure… but if Emmet and Esther did run away… she may now know why, and where they were going. 

But first, she needed to be certain. She knew the Sunny Glades Farm was off limits for now as it was under investigation, but as soon as the police were done with it, she wanted to take a look investigate it herself.
