Coffee

Coffee

A Poem by Kleio13

It`a a mantis birthday
only she has no antennas
  to see
      my life`s tale.

To truly merit my mercy

Yet i send every pawn
    a message
And everyone seems to get
   aroused.
I think my monumental
   mistake,
             was being ever-red and naked

    They peg at my pictures,
     like stone maggots
      of an archaic artist
           bookshelf
covered in coffee
    stains

yet i send every pawn a wet poem
claiming i choose my comforts

ha. What a liar am I ?

Stricken.
 Mantis calls me out,
    yet i haven`t a tongue.
One more cigarette
no more saliva at this point.

                The empty cups abruptly
                    fall to the floor
     joining the camel crush love

the shatter becomes a dead ship
   "no paper"

 I`ll use the glass.
   " no lover"
who wants their past?

You clever devil of time and space will never have my dream.

I shall do what most women do :
    put on more make-up
and drill the powerful man`s heart in two

but will he be the one to offer me coffee?

Your words transform the ordinary into deep magic... taking imagery and painting it into profound emotions... Brilliant write...

Thank You Craig :)
This is quite a deep, eclectic mix and I love your use of paradox in the imagery. Interesting title that offers little by way of what is to come, I like that. The poem has a coldness to it as life is examined from the perspective of a mantis eyeing it's prey (at least that's how I interpret it) and the lines " I shall do what most women do : put on more make-up and drill the powerful man`s heart in two" are superb. I enjoyed reading your writing and will definitely be back for more ! Penny

so glad i found you Kleio! i think i do get this .. at least somewhat ...even the most powerful have moments of weakness/vulnerability ... a need to be cradled if you will ... sex as a tool is what it is for men ..but for women ..we don,t have a chance nor a brain to even begin to survive ... certainly through reading your wonderful poetry ...everyone wants you ;) ... i know i do :))) and i haven,t even looked to see if you have posted other pics here on WC ...but it really doesn't matter ... your poetry is all that's needed ..great job with this one ... again ..so glad to have met you ... now ..about that cup of coffee?! :)

Hmm... it's bad cliche time. Cloistered like a nun with a bad habit. How can razor blades be soft and cuddly at the same time? What do power drills and tenderness have to do with cotton-mouth and the veil of illusion? A turn of phrase a flip of the switch... anybody that thinks they fully understand this poem should offer to buy you that cup of coffee. Not me. I can think of better ways to gift the mantis. Ways that don't involve being reduced to immediate, ever-red naked stains. Charlotte has nothing on you, Kleio, especially when it comes to spinning poetic webs.

This is incredible...it reminds me a lot of how I wrote when I was younger, but that's not why it's incredible. This is one of the best things you've done. It just has everything a good poem should have...great work my friend.

Holy cats, this made me dizzy and in a good way, I had to read it again, sent me reeling. So much confusion in our lives, that many times we create within ourselves, just wanting the simple comforts of a cuppa, I didn't get the title till the very end, then it made perfect sense and a huge impact. Outstanding read. Brilliantly pen'd Kleio!
